We enjoyed a spontaneous weekend out of town down at Port Elliot on the Fleurieu Peninsular.
We love this part of South Australia, and have both been visiting the Fleurieu since we were kids, so we were surprised to find some new treasures this weekend:
(the front gate)
We can’t recommend this stylish Bed & Breakfast enough! Built to incorporate the original 1900’s dairy, this place oozes character and originality. From the beautiful handcrafted furniture to the natural light – Jimmy Smith’s is perfect. We were supplied with a local wine, and a generous breakfast hamper. We strongly advise you book for your next getaway at Jimmy Smith’s Dairy.

(de groot coffee co.)
This place made my heart skip a beat! We’ve often discussed the lack of good coffee on the Fleurieu – however, turns out we were just looking in the wrong spot. De Groot’s Factory is located just 3 min drive from the renowned Port Elliot Bakery. We loved this place so much that we came for coffee both mornings.
(piccolo latte + flat white)
We’ve had Dawn Patrol on our list for a while, and it was well worth the detour on our way home – our GPS loved taking us off road through paddocks and vineyards to get here! We decided to “slurp and share” the two different beans of the day. We’ll be back for a full tasting session soon!
(slurp + share)
We stopped at One Little Sister in Normanville on our way home to share a wood oven pizza – delish.
(chorizo + chilli pizza)
We booked in for massages here and walked out feeling blissfully relaxed. There’s also a coffee & food cart out the front called “The Joyful Belly’s”.
(sunny shop front)
This place is next door to the Joyful Buddha’s and is delightful! I loved the layout and variety of produce. We stocked up on chocolate covered nuts, dried fruits and other treats.
There are so many other good spots throughout the Fleuireu – we can’t wait for our next trip!
