KYOTO DAY TWO

We were up early today and headed to Arashiyama to wander the bamboo forest and explore Okochi Sanso. Here are some photos:

The bamboo forest was so beautiful.

Aaron was particularly interested as he would like to grow bamboo at home to use as organic garden stakes etc.

We then headed into Okochi Sanso, the villa and garden of a famous Japanese Film Star.

The one way garden took us to many beautiful vantage points looking over carefully designed gardens and distant mountains.

The path ended at a peaceful tea house where we had traditional matcha tea in the sun.

After that,  we wandered the street and Aaron tried a green tea soft cream.

And then we stumbled  across another % Arabica Coffee Roastery- there was a line up out the door! We sipped coffees on the sunny bench out the front which overlooks the river.

By now we were feeling peckish,  and went in search for lunch… we had seen a place near the bamboo forrest with a line up down the street so knew it would be good. Luckily the line was gone when we arrived.

We enjoyed an amazing lunch!

I didn’t quite know what to say when my salad arrived!

After heading back to the hotel and putting our feet up for a while,  we headed out for our last dinner in Kyoto.  We had walked past a beautiful French Bistro while looking for our restaurant the night before – so we went straight there!

It was a lovely way to spend our last evening in Kyoto – a city full of food, culture and history!
